Commandant Statement:

Every country in the world has a unique characteristic that distinguishes it from other countries. One country may have vast natural resources, and another country may be known for manufacturing or trade. What distinguishes us in Jordan is our commitment to maintaining lasting peace and providing humanitarian assistants.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has a long and proud history of participating in peacekeeping operations around the world. The Jordanian Armed Forces participated in more than 23 United Nations peacekeeping missions. This commitment to international peace and security goes even further because Jordan is home to a regional and international center designed to enable military and civilian personnel to successfully participate in peacekeeping operations. This ultimately contributes to achieving Jordan's principles of supporting justice, peace and security in our common world.

In 1989, Jordan participated in the first international peace operation by sending 14 military observers to Angola. After the initial experience of the Jordanian Armed Forces in Angola, training and deployment of forces to support global United Nations missions began, as the Jordanian Armed Forces have so far contributed about 94,000 soldiers to United Nations peacekeeping missions.

In 2011, the POTC completed its partnership with NATO and was officially considered a training center with Partnership Training and Education Centers PETC participation. In 2014, POTC achieved two other achievements, as the United Nations officially accredited two of the POTC courses, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced that the POTC is a distinguished center for training the law of armed conflict / international humanitarian law in North Africa and the Middle East.

As POTC Commandant, I have absolute faith in the noble humanitarian mission that the POTC contributes to by working internally with the Jordanian Armed Forces and externally with the forces of brotherly and friendly countries and other organizations.

The main mission of the POTC is to provide both academic and practical training, whereby participants are qualified to serve in United Nations global peacekeeping operations.

Participation in POTC courses is open to all countries from armed forces to officers and non-commissioned officers, non-governmental organizations and government departments.

Courses cover a wide range of topics such as protection of civilians and child protection, gender in peacekeeping operations, UN staff officers, UN military observers, UN civil-military coordination, Arab cultural awareness, and the law of armed conflict.

We are very proud of our contributions to international peace and security through training in the fields of peace operations and international humanitarian law.

POTC Commandant
